Description

Acutrak 4/5

The Acumed Acutrak 4/5 provides a method of fixation for medium to large bones, where a 6.5 mm headed screw or equivalent-sized headless screw would otherwise be required. The Acutrak 4/5’s taper may help minimize patient discomfort and is a smart choice for Jones fractures and nonunions. Indications include: talus fractures, malleolar fractures, midfoot fusions, MTP fusions, and greater tuberosity fractures. The Acutrak 4/5 screws are available in lengths from 25 mm to 50 mm and are inserted with a 2.5 mm hex driver over a .054" guide wire.

  • GMDN Term Description: A small, sterile, threaded rod with a slotted head typically used for internal orthopaedic fracture fixation by being screwed into bone to hold plates or nails to bone or to provide direct interfragmentary stabilization of bone, or it may fasten soft tissue to bone; it is made of a material that cannot be chemically degraded or absorbed via natural body processes (includes implant grade metal such as surgical steel, titanium alloy, or carbon fibre). There are a number of kinds available: cortical, cancellous, malleolar, scaphoid, partially-threaded and fully-threaded, self-tapping, and cannulated. A "lag screw" can be any of these used to obtain compression across bone fragments.
